2016: Dawn over Himeji Castle

A very dramatic view of Himeji Castle at dawn. By tradition it is supposed to resemble a white heron, but here it looks altogether more foreboding. Himeji castle is famous as the best-preserved example of Japanese castle building, whose historical origins are said to date back to the building of a fort in 1333.
