The bridge over the pond in Monet's own garden at Giverny, designed with the help of a Japanese gardener in the 1890s. This version is cropped top and bottom - the original painted in 1899 was almost square.

Founder, and master artist of the school of impressionism, Claude Monet (1840 – 1926) spent his life capturing the effects of light in a way never before achieved.
